Media training As a group of medical health officers neared
graduation, the need for them to have strong skills in dealing with the media was
identified. As this group tended to have to communicate emotionally charged information,
they needed the skills that would allow them to deliver key messages about complex
situations in a calm and accessible manner.
QUAY's full day media training included details on how the media operates, techniques
for delivering key messages and video-taped mock interview scenarios. The workshop
participants left with a manual and a full critique on their interviews. Feedback from
the workshop cited a much higher level of confidence in dealing with the media.
